There are special interest sites for almost any thing you can think of… outdoor enthusiasts, couch potatoes, religious, non-religious, gays, lesbians… like I said… almost anything you can think of. So what’s a girl to do? A girl should choose the site or sites that best fit her needs.

Here are some things to consider:

(1) Cost. How much do you want or how much can you spend each month for your membership (s)?

(2) Features. Which features are the most important to you?

(A) Profile matching systems. Is this a feature you really want or would you rather decide who is right for you all by yourself?

(B) Chat and IM’s? There are websites who offer chat rooms and IM’s on their sites. Does that matter or would you be happy just sticking to private email.

(C) Outside Events…such as speed dating? Are you interested in that?

(D) Privacy. Some websites allow you to limit who can view your picture or your profile. Does this matter to you or do you want as wide exposure as you can have?

(E) Safety. There are websites who do background checks of all subscribers and certify their age, marital status and background. Would you feel safer using this feature?

These are a few things but not all things you should consider when choosing an online dating service or services. Do your homework and choose wisely for the best results for you.

There are many reasons for the phenomenal growth of online dating sites and the number of people, men and women of all ages, races and religions who use them as their primary source for meeting people and looking for “the one”.

If you don’t believe me, just ask your friends in the “real” world. If they are honest, most of them will tell you they have or are using an online dating service.

Here are three good reasons why thousands of people sign up for dating services everyday:

(1) You can be anonymous. You will never be required to give your real name, address, email address, phone number or place of employment to another online user. You, of course, may do so but only at your own discretion and only when you feel completely safe. You are not required to post a picture of yourself. Posting a picture, however, will get more responses to your profile. So you can surf through the other members on the dating site you have joined with complete anonymity.

(2) You have so many more choices online that you do in your brick and mortar world. Most people in the senior age group would have been raised at a time when dating someone outside of your own race was not accepted. Today there are many interracial couples and our young people are raised at a time when it is accepted to date outside of your own race.

To make an interracial relationship work you will need to have some understanding of your partner’s culture and traditions. If you have both been raised in completely different cultures then you may have very different beliefs that could clash so this is something that you will need to work around.

It is best to get an idea of what your partners beliefs are before the relationship becomes too serious. If you wait until the relationship has become serious and then find that you cannot live with this person’s culture then you may be heartbroken if the relationship ends over your different beliefs. Many traditions and beliefs can be worked around if you are both willing to make compromises and sometimes you might just have to agree to disagree. All relationships will have some issues that can cause problems and if there is good communication then they can be worked around.

You also need to realize that no matter how open minded you are about dating someone from another race, your family and friends may not be as open minded. So you should prepare yourself for some resistance from your family and friends. If you find that you have family or friends that don’t agree with your relationship, stay strong and united and prove to them that there is no reason why you cannot be together.

Many people just don’t like change or don’t like something they haven’t come across before. If there has never been an interracial relationship within your family then this can be a big shock to them as it is something they don’t have experience with. You can educate your family by talking to them honestly and openly about your relationship and your different cultures. Let them get to know your partner and in time they may become to like your partner to the stage where they won’t even notice the different race.

Because interracial relationships can have their challenges it is good if you can have some family or friends that are supportive. Sometimes it can feel like it is the two of you against the rest of the world and sometimes you just need a friendly shoulder to lean on. Spend time with those family members who understand your feelings and your relationship and give you support.

Any relationship can have challenges and the same is true for interracial relationships. Although interracial dating can have some extra challenges, don’t let that stop you from dating someone from another race. You never know, the love of your life might be someone from a different race and you don’t want to miss out on that perfect person for fear of the challenges that interracial dating can bring.

If you do plan to have a cross cultural relationship you must be prepared to step outside of your normal way of thinking. You may need to make some compromises in the relationship that do not follow your traditions. You may not think it would be all that difficult but you would be surprised how some situation can sneak up on you and you find yourself making a difficult decision. Different cultures have different ideas of what is right and wrong and some cultures will clash in those beliefs. If you are dating someone whose culture clashes with everything that you believe then these differences can be difficult to overcome.

When you are in a cross cultural relationship you will need to learn as much as you can about your partners culture and then you will know whether you can possibly compromise on certain things or whether your different beliefs are too great. You need to listen to your partner and ask respectful questions about their culture. If you are open minded you can enjoy an information discussion about your cultures, but always remain respectful of your partner and their beliefs.

If at some time during your relationship you find yourself in a situation that you are not comfortable with regarding their beliefs or culture then you need to discuss it with them. Remain respectful but let them know your beliefs are different and let them know how you feel about this. Never ridicule them for their beliefs, you should always respect them, but just let them know that you do not feel comfortable with it. If they love you and respect your beliefs then they will try to understand your position.

Different cultures have different customs and some of them may seem a bit primitive to you, but you should still remain respectful. It is quite possible that some of your customs may seem strange or primitive to them. You should never judge someone by their customs but rather take an interest in them and learn about them.

When you enter into a new relationship it can be an anxious time but even more so if you come from different cultural backgrounds. You need to be patient and understanding and have find while you learn about each other and your different cultures. If you are open to stepping outside of your comfort zone then you may learn about and experience some amazing cultures. This doesn’t mean that you need to change your own beliefs, it just means that you are willing to acknowledge and respect someone else’s beliefs.

They can be quite strict in obeying the rules of the Catholic Church including their view on sex before marriage and birth control.
